We answer all your questions about ECU and TCU remapping: legality, warranty, prices, results and the process. If you can't find your answer, call us or send a message.
At Recuauto, ECU remapping means adjusting your vehicle's engine software to optimise parameters such as fuel injection and ignition timing. We carry out these adjustments precisely so that your car, van, truck, tractor, motorbike or boat consumes less fuel — an average saving of around 10% — depending on the vehicle and your driving style. By improving combustion efficiency, we reduce wasted fuel and make every litre go further.
The main benefits are: more power and torque (faster response when overtaking or working with heavy loads), lower fuel consumption (we optimise engine efficiency to reduce petrol or diesel use) and a better driving experience (smoother, more precise response). At Recuauto we personalise every remap to suit your needs, whether you are a private owner or a professional with a fleet.
Yes. We optimise private cars and vans, trucks and industrial vehicles, tractors and agricultural machinery, motorbikes and boats. We adapt the remap to each vehicle type, ensuring efficient chiptuning for both private owners and professionals.
Yes, we offer the option of including effects such as pops and bangs, popcorn, flames or hardcut, especially for private cars and motorbikes looking for a sporty touch. These effects are achieved by adjusting parameters such as fuel injection and ignition timing, without compromising engine reliability. We use professional software to ensure the effects are safe.
Absolutely. Safety comes first at Recuauto. We use state-of-the-art original equipment and software such as WinOLS and Alientech, always respecting each vehicle's engine limits to guarantee durability. We also carry out thorough tests on our own in-house dyno to verify that the adjustments do not cause problems such as overheating.
Yes, without any issues. We design our remaps to comply with the legal emissions limits applicable in the vehicle's country of registration. Whether it is a car, van, truck, tractor, motorbike or boat, we ensure the adjustments allow the vehicle to pass the technical inspection without problems. For Stage 2 and Stage 3 we recommend consulting case by case.
Under Directive (EU) 2019/771 on warranties, the manufacturer cannot void the entire vehicle warranty solely because of a remap, unless they can prove the fault is directly related to the modification. At Recuauto we always keep a copy of the original software and can restore it if you need to take your vehicle to the dealership.
At Recuauto the remapping process usually takes a few hours. A car or motorbike can be ready in 2–3 hours, while a truck or tractor may require a little longer. At our workshop in Lleida we offer flexibility: you can bring your vehicle in or, if you prefer, we can collect it.
Not for Stage 1. Stage 1 remapping is designed to work with a completely standard engine. For Stage 2 and Stage 3 some mechanical modifications may be required (high-performance air filter, upgraded intercooler, etc.). We will advise you during the initial diagnosis.
We guarantee our work. If any software-related problem appears after the remap, we review it at no extra cost. We always keep a copy of the original map so we can revert the changes at any time.
The price depends on the vehicle type, model and specific requirements. For cars and vans: EcoStage from €300, Stage 1 from €300, Stage 2 from €350, Stage 3 from €700. For trucks: ECO from €600, Stage 1 from €700, Stage 2 from €1,500. For fleets we offer competitive prices adapted to the number of vehicles. It depends on the vehicle. Our standard remap typically increases performance by around 20% and reduces consumption by up to 10%. A sport remap delivers around 25% gain while maintaining fuel consumption. For naturally aspirated vehicles the power increase is around 10%. For targets above 25% we analyse each case individually. Check your specific model in our calculator.
Yes, especially in diesel vehicles. With more torque at low revs the engine needs fewer accelerations and works more efficiently. Real savings range from 5% to 20% depending on driving style. Mixed driving is where the difference is most noticeable.
We have our own in-house dyno at Alcoletge (Lleida). All our work can be verified on the dyno before and after the remap. You can see the real data for your vehicle in the dyno report we provide with every service.
